What does Europe stand for? What does “Europe“ mean in the face of a looming shift to the right and amidst current global crises? The campaigns for the upcoming European elections in 2024 provide insights into the interpretations and political possibilities offered by the competing parties. By analyzing the audiovisual self-representations of German lead candidates, we inquire into the specific image of a representative that is being promoted to gain approval.
